Today's papers are full of the news that an Indian scientist won the Nobel prize.
This is hardly a matter of pride . In fact, it's one of great shame that a clever Indian had to leave the country before being able to win a Nobel.
This just reconfirms that we are a country of losers. We are great are giving birth to geniuses ( which may just be a function of the fact that we are a country of over a billion); and then pulling them down to the lowest common denominator, instead of letting them shine.
And now with the reservation epidemic, standards are going to drop even further in education and academics. Private enterprise is now our only hope.
