Blocking medical tourism

I just got this email from a patient.

This is Rasheed Ahmed here from Pakistan.

I have got an appointment with you at October 14, 2009 for the treatment of Sub-Fertility along with my wife. we had applied visa with your honor able High Commission in Islamabad but they did not issued our visas, without giving any reason for refusal.

We are really worried about this because we are unable to understand the reason of refusal.

We are writing you here, how we get treatment from your execllency. Is there any other possibilty, or do you have any clinic outside India, Like Sri Lanka, Thailand etc.

Hoping an encouraging Reply.

Everyone knows that Indian medical facilities are the most advanced in the sub-continent; and that many patients come to India from Pakistan and Bangladesh for medical treatment. Instead of promoting medical tourism, it's disappointing that the government is placing road-blocks in the route of patients who want treatment in India !

No offence but Indian Government has its rules. Considering the history with Pakistan and the terrorist attacks in India, they are ultra careful on whom to allow and whom not.

  2. Yes, I understand. However, the chances of an infertile couple who are coming for IVF treatment being a security threat are pretty low, in my opinion !
