The Doctor's Office - WSJ.com

The Doctor's Office - WSJ.com: "Two University of Colorado researchers won an academic award last January for their paper proposing overbooking as a solution to the loss of productivity for doctors when patients don't show up. My practice depends on patient visits as the main source of revenue so any missed appointments cost me money. The overhead meter for the office keeps running whether patients show up or not. In a busy practice, patients who don't show up take away a slot that someone else could use."
