BreastCancerTrials.org

BreastCancerTrials.org: "Joan, along with Joanne Tyler, another breast cancer advocate, conceived of BreastCancerTrials.org (BCT) as a nonprofit web-based service that would match breast cancer patients to clinical trials. BCT was developed in partnership with the National Cancer Institute, the UCSF Comprehensive Cancer Center, and the Center of Excellence for Breast Cancer Care. Patient advocates played a major role in its design and continue to be active members of the project team.

BCT matches patient histories to the eligibility criteria of participating clinical trials. Patients create an online Personal Health Record (PHR) that captures detailed information about their health and provides the basis for matching. Users can find matches whenever they log on to the site and can take part in automated matching. BCT runs automated matching once daily and alerts patients by email to new trials that match their PHR."
