PatientOS 1.0 Roadmap

PatientOS 1.0 Roadmap: "PatientOS has two years of design and implementation of a solid flexible framework on top of which a clinical information system for physician offices, clinics, hospitals, or any other healthcare facility can be built. Our target for our 1.0 release is to be the most stable and fastest growing open source healthcare information system on any platform."

The open source healthcare space is getting hot :)

I'm not sure how I feel about a healthcare patient system running on software that anyone could hack into!?

  2. Despite the enthusiasm of the poster for Open Source, PatientOS is largely a distraction to the larger Free and Open Source Healthcare Software community. PatientOs is alpha code, running live nowhere. There are several applications that are better funded, have more features and have larger communities. The problem with PatientOS is fully documented here. http://www.fredtrotter.com/2007/11/27/foss-sin-pointless-duplication-of-effort/

By starting a new project, PatientOS robs resources from legitimate projects. Someday, the PatientOS project might catchup and be a viable project. For the time being they are irrelevant but noisy.

I am not sure what you mean by two projects? There is only one project - no forks, just an original work.

Fred is a Internet Security analyst trying to make a name for himself but he is neither a developer nor works in healthcare so is generally ignored...search EMR Update and Linuxmednews for his attacks on any project not associated with him.

  4. After reading Trotter's comments my impression is that his critique is not so much founded in the PatientOS platform itself as it is on the fact that PatientOS exists at all. The platform should be evaluated on it's own merits, how well it meets an institution's business and clinical goals. My company has spent a great deal of time with this product and we don't hesitate for a moment recommending it to our clients.
