Conference on Preventing Medical Errors in Mumbai - 24 April 2011

Medical errors are a leading cause of preventable deaths. When a patient dies because of perceived medical negligence, hospitals get burnt down and doctors get beaten up. However, not all deaths are because of negligence - and not all errors can be prevented. In order to learn about what we can do to make sure that medical errors are minimised , India's first Patient Safety Workshop is being organised in Mumbai. This is the first conference in India which focuses on this key issue, which is usually misunderstood; and often ignored.

I am especially excited about the fact that this workshop will be involving patients as well, as I deeply believe that well-informed patients can play a very important role in preventing medical errors !

We've got some great speakers - please do come and join us ! You can get more details by emailing [email protected] !

NB Nrip, thanks for pointing out that there is an error in the conference announcement - it is on 24 April . Just shows how easy it is to make errors :)

The website for the conference is at http://thepatient.in/safety/

Would also like to tell u that I have had 1 ivf cycle 6 yrs back which failed but thereafter I conceived naturally. I now have a 5 yr old boy.

  7. You have 2 problems.

    1. I agree you have male factor infertility due to a
    low sperm count ( oligoasthenospermia).
You can read more about this at www.drmalpani.com/oligospermia.htm.

I am sorry, but there is no reliable way of improving sperm count or motility with medicines or surgery.
    Please get it re-checked again.

If it is persistently low, then your best option would be
    ICSI ( www.drmalpani.com/icsi.htm).

    2. I am concerned about your advanced age.
This suggests you may have poor ovarian reserve .

You can read more about this at www.drmalpani.com/oopause.htm.

Your low AMH level ( www.drmalpani.com/amh.htm)
    confirms this .

Time is now at a premium for you - please don't waste it ! You should never have any regrets that you left any stone unturned and didn't give yourself the best shot at fertility treatment. Treatment can be expensive, but a baby is priceless !

The fact you have conceived in the past means your chances
of having a healthy baby are excellent, so please don't get disheartened !

We look forward to helping you to complete your family !

Hi doctor, I m from Bangladesh. My age is 34, my husband is also 34 years old. We are married for 5 yrs 3 months. But I have no child. After my marriage due to education and job purpose I did 3 abortions. after last abortion in 2011 my menstration was stopped for 6 months. Then doctor suggest me to take conjugated estrogen for 25 days and normens for 10 days. At that time my cycle was started and was regular. Now we are trying to conceive for last 2 years. In 2012 I conceived by using tab letrol day 3 to 7, inj gonal f 75 iu day 3, 5, 7. But it was missed abortion in 3 months. After that my cycle is totally irregular. When I take medicine my menstration is start. In February 2014 I did iui and it was failed. In April my doctor suggest me to take tab letrol day 3 to 7, inj gonal f day 3, 5, 7 but there was no result. No follicle was seen. Last month in day 3 my FSH is 28, lh 14, E2 10 and AMH 0.18, Dr. Told me this indicates my egg reserve is very low. With this I feel hot flash daily 10 to 12 times. My cycle is stooped for last 2 months. Dr. suggested me to take congugated estrogen 25 days and normens 10 days for regular my cycle. And also take DHEA 75mg daily. Please tell me is there any possibilities to improve my amh level and get a issuse.

    1. I am sorry, but your high FSH level confirms you have ovarian failure.
You can read more about this at http://www.drmalpani.com/premature-ovarian-failure-pof.htm

Your best option would be donor egg IVF ( www.drmalpani.com/eggdonation.htm) or embryo adoption ( www.drmalpani.com/embryoadoption.htm)

      Which would you prefer ?

Time is now at a premium for you – please don’t waste it !
