Is it safe for IVF patients to take the Coronavirus vaccine ?

Many IVF patients are worried whether it is safe for them to take the Coronavirus vaccine and continue with their IVF treatment.

They are fed up of waiting to start their IVF treatment cycle, because the Lockdown has messed up all their baby making plans.

But now that the vaccine is available and they are eligible to take it, they have lots of doubts and questions.

If they take it, will they need to postpone their IVF treatment ? And if so, for how long ?

Will taking the vaccine reduce their chances of getting pregnant after IVF ? Should they take both their doses and then start ? Or can they start and then take the second dose ?

And is there any proof that the vaccine is safe for pregnant women ? Can it harm the embryo ?

It's hard for them to get reliable information, because no one seems to know anything , since it's such a new virus ! The specialists are  confused, because immunologists know nothing about IVF, and IVF specialists know nothing about immunology !

The good news is that you don't need to postpone your IVF , and you can take the vaccine safely. This is simple common sense. The virus affects the respiratory tract, and has no effect on the reproductive tract . It does not affect the eggs, sperm or the uterus .  The vaccine also doesn't affect the reproductive tract, so you don't need to worry about safety or side effects

You also need to remember that when you are doing IVF, the embryo is in the incubator and the uterus, so it's not going to be affected by the vaccine either !

The good news is you do not need to delay your vaccine because of IVF treatment; and you do not need to delay your IVF treatment because of vaccination either !

You can have your cake and eat it too !
