Will IVF be painful?

This is one of the commonest concerns patients have about IVF .
They've heard so many horror stories about all the injections which IVF patients need to take, and injections are naturally associated with pain.
However, the modern hormonal injections which we use for IVF aren't painful at all , because we usually give them subcutaneously , and patients can easily learn to administer these themselves.
So why do IVF injections have such a bad reputation. This is because some doctors continue to give oily, painful progesterone injections after the transfer to provide luteal phase support. This used to be routine in the past, but most modern IVF clinic give the progesterone today in the form of suppositories.
This means there should be no pain at all in an IVF cycle, which is why it's easy to repeat this . If your doctor is causing you pain , he's obviously doing something wrong !
Yes, the pain can be emotional when the IVF cycle fails, but when the cycle works, it's worth bearing all the discomfort which it can cause.

And the pain can be financial as well, because the treatment is so expensive - but a baby can be priceless !

What to find an IVF clinic which respects your time and intelligence ?
