Stress , sex and infertility

Stress does not cause infertility - it's the infertility which causes the stress. However, blaming patients by telling them that their infertility is because they are so stressed out is a great way of shifting the blame onto them , and this just makes a bad problem worse, because this guilt just adds to their stress levels. They feel even worse about themselves , and can't really do anything about it – after all, no one likes being stressed !
However, one way in which stress does cause infertility is because of its effect on sexual frequency. Stress kills sexual desire , and in today's busy world , where both women and men are busy pursuing high-flying careers, they are sometimes just too busy to have sex ! Because they are travelling all the time, they aren’t able to time baby making sex during the fertile period – something urgent always crops up at the last minute !
And when they finally do manage to synchronise their schedules , the husband suffers from erectile dysfunction , because he finds it hard to perform under pressure; or the wife gets dyspareunia because of vaginismus.
It is this infrequent sexual intercourse which results in infertility – which means the underlying reason is not medical, but social !
The good news is that it’s easy to treat, and the success rates are high !
The simplest treatment option is self-insemination. You can read more about this at http://www.drmalpani.com/knowledge-center/articles/selfinsemination
