Information Therapy (Ix)®: An Idea That is Beginning to Bear Fruit « eHealth Initiative Blog

Information Therapy (Ix)®: An Idea That is Beginning to Bear Fruit « eHealth Initiative Blog: "Today, at last, information therapy has taken root, is spreading its branches, and is ready for rapid, mainstream expansion thanks to a smart move by the makers of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid (CMS) “meaningful use” rules. The new rules now include four specific Ix requirements:

* Patient-specific education resources
* Patient instructions as part of required visit summaries
* Discharge instructions from hospitals
* Prevention reminders

All four of the meaningful use rules clearly fit within the Ix definition: “The prescription of specific, evidence-based medical information to a specific patient, caregiver, or consumer at just the right time to help them make a specific health decision or behavior change.”
