Consumer-Driven Healthcare

Consumer-Driven Healthcare: "With healthcare costs continuing to climb, the consumer-directed model is an attempt to make consumers more aware of both cost and quality. Consumerism’s premise is that organizations can encourage employees to play a greater role in their own care by providing incentives and information. At some companies, consumer-directed care has been embraced with open arms. One study showed that 42 percent of companies currently offer or plan to offer high-deductible health plans, while 33 percent offer or plan to offer health savings accounts or health reimbursement arrangements. At many organizations, however, consumerism’s impact has been minimal. The new model’s ultimate impact on the healthcare landscape remains to be seen. "
