Concierge Medicine - The Future or the Past? | Brain Blogger

Concierge Medicine - The Future or the Past? | Brain Blogger: "An increasing number of physicians are turning to something known as “concierge medicine,” or “boutique medicine.” Under this system, patients are required to pay a yearly fee to the physician above and beyond the cost of their healthcare, which can range from $1,000 to $20,000. In return for this fee, they are granted a much higher level of access to their physician than one would expect. Doctors who participate in concierge medicine spend an hour with their patients on visits. They give out their personal cell phone numbers to be reached at all times. Many make house calls at no additional fee. Physicians guarantee that if you are sick and need to be seen, you can do so within 2 hours. Those long waits in the doctor’s office? Gone. Concierge physicians guarantee no wait in the waiting room."

  1. My response to Dr. Malpani's question is that concierge medicine is the future, rekindled from the past. I opened one of the first concierge practice in the country 8 years ago. It is a rewarding and satisfying way to practice the kind of medicine that I was trained to do. I have TIME to do the right thing. I am not burdened by regulations, paperwork or meddlesome third-party payers. If primary care medicine has any real future, it is not in maintaining the status quo.

  2. I am engaged in Elitehealth.com concierge wellness program which is designed for healthcare at concierge level. They are providing me medication with care at the highest level of comfort. Their wellness program allows me to have a direct access to my personal physician via phone and email, but also in the emergency situation which I had because of having a heart attack, physician came home and also were present in the emergency room to expedite my care. They provided me a patient care concierge who managed all my transportation and accommodation. All this meant a lot to me when it comes to health. So, a concierge level hospitalization is a boon to me, and many other who are desiring to experience.
